If your child is complaining about a headache behind the eyes, it is important to seek advice from your healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis. One type of headache which has a symptom of pain behind the eyes is a ‘cluster headache’. They usually start in children over the age of 10 and are more common in adolescent males. They do not occur as often as migraine or tension headaches, and begin unexpectedly. They are called cluster headaches because they usually occur 1-3 times a day, every day, for several weeks or months. They are rare and only affect an estimated 1 in 1000 people.
